Apparitions at
St. Joseph Church
Apparitions occur to Gianna Sullivan at
St. Joseph Church, Emmitsburg, Maryland. Pilgrims flock to the site, to be present during the vision.
On November 3, 1993, just two days after moving to Emmitsburg, Maryland, Gianna and Michael Sullivan attended their first Marian Prayer Group Meeting, in the chapel, at the rectory/community house, at St. Joseph Church, Emmitsburg.
During the Rosary, Our Lady of Emmitsburg appeared to Gianna, and continued to do so during each subsequent prayer group meeting. As word spread about our Lady's appearances, more people flocked to the weekly prayer group meetings.
Three months after the first apparition occurred at the prayer group meeting, the number of members grew to where the chapel could no longer hold participants. So, the prayer group was moved to the church.
In coordination with the pastor, a weekly Thursday evening Medjugorje type prayer service, with Mass followed by Benediction, was established at St. Joseph Church.
From that time, in 1994, until 2000, Gianna Sullivan, experienced a weekly apparition, of the Blessed Mother, at the Thursday evening prayer group meeting. (This was in addition to the ongoing private apparitions that she was receiving almost every day of our Blessed Mother.)
After each apparition, a message for the world was given through Gianna, from Our Lady of Emmitsburg, and then subsequently disseminated to the public.
For the next six years, throngs of pilgrims, from all over the world, were drawn to the small town church, each one wanting to be present when the Mother of God came to earth, many receiving heavenly gifts.
