Private Life and Private Revelations Bloom
The Seeds Were Sown in Scottsdale, Arizona
In the late 1980's, Scottsdale, Arizona was a spiritually unique place. Mystical experiences were occurring to a group of 8 people from the area, who had traveled to Medjugorje. Gianna Talone added to their number.
Pilgrims from all over the world came to Scottsdale to be present when Heaven spilled onto earth, through those mystical occurrences. People came to Scottsdale searching, finding, growing closer to God.
Lectures were orchestrated, aiding people in the quest for information about the spiritual phenomena occurring in their midst. Michael Sullivan MD, a doctor from the northeastern part of the U.S.,was among the lecturers. His talk was on Medjugorje and his experiences there.
While in Scottsdale, he was invited to be present for a private apparition, occurring to Gianna Talone. During that apparition, our Lady pointed Dr. Sullivan out to Gianna, from among the group present, and invited Gianna to consider entering into marriage with him someday. Gianna reflected on our Lady's suggestion, choosing to be open to the possibility.
After a while, a relationship developed between Gianna Talone and Michael Sullivan. They fell in love and married on June 19th, 1993, in St. Maria Goretti Church, Scottsdale, Arizona.
But before the wedding, an event took place that would not only change the path of the couple's life, but would also redirect the lives of countless others: Our Lady appeared to Gianna in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and invited the couple to move there.
Here is how it happened: Gianna came back east to meet with Michael and his family, a few months before they were married. The couple visited some of Michael's favorite sites. Among them was the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, at Mt. St. Mary's College and Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland. It was during this visit, on January 31, 1993, the Feast of St. Don Bosco, that our Lady appeared to Gianna in the Grotto, and invited her, and her future husband, to be a special part of our Lady's plan, in Emmitsburg.
The couple accepted the invitation, and moved to Emmitsburg, on November 1, the Feast of All Saints Day, 1993.
The Sullivans were granted the graces of newlyweds; special gifts of love for one another, the excitement of transition, and the joyfulness flowing from the sacrament of marriage. On July 12, 1996, those gifts were poured out with greater abundance in the blessing of the birth of their daughter, Ann Marie.
