About Us

The world’s calendar marks March 23 as the date of Easter, 2008, but the Church’s calendar marks Easter as the first day of the 50 day season!
The Church’s calendar is our calendar and it is truly a gift to us.  It helps us to pace and meter our lives in a peaceful, blessed, and ordered way.  The Church’s calendar is like a large bell whose reverberations ring out through all of heaven and earth with a peaceful, prayerful call and a sacred tempo of life.
Feel like you have become a slave to agendas filled with endless activity that allows little time for the truly beautiful things in life, the things of God?  Try following a different calendar, the calendar of the Church. It provides a holy balance of fasting and feasting; as well as, “a time and a season for every purpose under Heaven.”  Ecclesiastics 3:1

Inspirations from Our Lady of Emmitsburg’s messages on how to spend the days in sacred ways.

  • Take time to read and study Scripture. 1/26/95
For the posting of the daily scripture readings by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, click here
  • Devote time to prayer and prepare yourself to receive the graces God desires to give you. 9/8/94
    * Set aside 15 minutes each day to reflect on the Paschal Mysteries and then gradually replace those reflections with meditations on Pentecost.
    * Take 15 minutes each day during the Easter season to pray specifically to be prepared to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Pentecost.
    * Commit some time during the 50 days of the Easter Season to “Be still and know that I am God.”  Psalm 46:10  Keep a journal of insights.
  • Take the time to rest in His Love.  Try to ponder His interior sacrificial Love for you. 4/2/98

So fly away you evil spirits!
The Lion of the Tribe of Juda, the Root of David has conquered.
All the evil ones shall be silenced and cast into the Lion's mouth.
